Nancy Lane

Nancy grew up around aviation. Her father learned to fly from a former World War II Women Air Service Pilot (WASP), who ran the local flight school at the Pal Waukee, Airport in Wheeling, Illinois. This gave Nancy a chance to fly around the country with her family and see many an airshow…like The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Airshow that started in Rockford Illinois, the year Nancy was born. She saw the legendary Cole Brother’s Flying Circus Airshows, and attended some of the first Reno Air Races held outside Reno, Nevada!

Nancy’s family eventually moved to Sun Valley, Idaho in the 1970’s. Idaho gave Nancy the chance to learn to fly fish, downhill ski, snowmobile, hike and horseback ride in the great Idaho outdoors! Horseback riding turned into a passion and a job. She worked at the Sun Valley Stables, exercising horses and giving beginner riding lessons.  Eventually, Nancy began competing in numerous horse shows in barrel racing, stock-seat equitation and other western riding events. Later, Nancy went on to work at the Big Wood Equitation Center, giving guided trail rides into the mountains outside of Ketchum, Idaho!

In 1987 Nancy met and later married her husband John Lane. In 1988, they together started Airpower Unlimited. While Nancy runs the office, she is also a historian. She is a collector of World War II memorabilia, specializing in World War II “Sweetheart Jewelry.” She also collects western art, arrow heads, pottery, spurs, saddles, guns.

Nancy has crewed at the Reno National Air Races, continues to go back to Wisconsin to the EAA airshows when they have an aircraft to be judged and she volunteers at The Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, Idaho! Nancy shoots trap and skeet, and has been a member of Single Action Shooting Society (SASS), a cowboy action shooting club.

Nancy is the mother of one daughter and has three grandchildren.
